LILLA EDET - UTBY

Walk across the river to Ströms Castle Park. You’ll probably be here for a while, it’s well worth your time. The trail continues over Uxåsen and then further down towards the nature reserve, Brattorpsån. On the other side of the river lies a beautifully situated farm, Jordfallsslatten; a lively farm with cows, calves, sheeps, and herding dogs.
Just before Hjärtum- stands a stone reminiscent of forest-planting in the early 1900s. In the red building next to the church there are parish halls as well as a worthy home-built museum. Hjärtum is a lovely place. It is said that in Hjärtum there is always extra room for care. The site holds many stories and has been a home for tired housewives as well as orphanages. The heart thymus is another well-known celebrity nearby and, far back in time, another celebrity is said to have visited the regions: Queen Kristina. There is a myth that she sought accommodation here and a story about what happened when she was denied overnight stay. Go here to find out the rest!
There is too much to learn and the old country road leads you to the wonderful Sollum village. At Sollumsån, mills, saws, and power plants have once existed. It truly is a beautiful place. The buildings are fantastically restored. Then, as you walk through pastures and meadows, it is easy to get the feeling of walking in the Irish countryside. The trail continues past “Stenkonstgården” Nedre Torp and if you are lucky, they will have rooms for the night. Before Utby you move up towards the farm Tomten and over to Långberget. Welcome to the Hjärtrum route.
