LÖDÖSE - LILLA EDET

The route starts at the museum and then takes you to a superb view from Spetsalberget. The mountain was named after the hospital that existed in the area during the medieval times. St. Jörgen’s hospital stood tall on the large field behind Lödöse museum. When you’re process the amazing view from the mountain, be sure to breathe in the lovely, refreshing air. Listen to the birds, to the wind, and most importantly—to yourself. Have your moment up here. And don’t worry, there are several other views along the way for you to enjoy! One of them is by the magnificent river and the other is over beautiful Lödöse. Lödöse was Sweden’s first port city to the west and Gothenburg’s forerunner. Furthermore, Lödöse museum’s exhibitions exemplify the city’s history during the medieval times in a wonderful way.
Follow the old church road towards the church of Tunge. Just before you arrive at Tunge, the trail crosses the new highway. Do yourself a favor and rest your legs and drink some water at the church. Past Tunge the trail continues onto smaller roads towards Göta, where it progresses along Gamla Götavägen to Lilla Edet. Before Lilla Edet, however, the trail once again crosses the highway and then goes past Fuxerna church as well as the parish home, a famous salmon fishing spot, and finally to Sweden’s oldest sluice. Full service is available in Lilla Edet. Welcome to the Spetsalberget route.
