NYLÖSE - STORÅS

The Amazon route is known for its spectacular views as well as the breathtaking Lärjeån river. The route takes you to Kvibergsberget, which provides one of the best views in the city, a magnificent panorama of Gothenburg. The hike in the valley of Lärjeån takes you through a narrow ravine surrounded by a jungle-like forest, hence the nickname “Little Amazonas”. If you are a fan of that kind of environment, then this route is most certainly for you! The stream then continues through the gorge landscape with wide fields, large hills, and grazing pastures. If you go south, the target is visiting the beutiful Storås-falls just by Lärjeåns Kitchen and Gardens, where you may stop for lunch if you’d like. This entire hike feels like an adventure!
The hiking trail begins at Nylöse church, in the south. It continues through Kviberg’s cemetery, Gothenburg’s largest cemetery. The cemetery contains hills and small mountains as well as large, green fields. Take some time to admire the scenery and collect your thoughts; enjoy the peace and quiet! If you stay on the trail you will eventually reach the district of Kortedala, the first modern suburb of Gothenburg, which began to form in the mid 1950s.
Furthermore, be sure not to miss the Buddhist temple next to Lärjeån. The temple is spectacular, and it’s certainly worth your time. At the end of the route from south to north when you’ve reached Storås be sure to explore the gorgeous rapids! From here you can easily take a tram to Gothenburg’s central station and be back in the city within 15 minutes. No time at all! Or why not continue to wander down the next route of Pilgrim Trail of Gota River. You decide your own adventure. Welcome to Road Little Amazonas.
