TROLLHÄTTAN - VÄNERSBORG

This is the last stretch of The Pilgrimage route Göta Älv, from Trollhättan bridge to Dalbobron in Vänersborg. If you have walked all the way from Gothenburg- then this is the time for reflection; reflect on your journey and why you embarked on it in the first place. Reflect on what it means to you.
“Kärlekstigen” (the love-path) passes the grave of Karl, an almost 4-kilometer-long water channel built for vessels to bypass the falls of Vargön (Wolf-island) along Göta Älv. When you finally reach Vänersborg, pat yourself on the back as a wanderer, a free spirit, and as a pilgrim. Take off your hiking boots, rest your feet, and enjoy a Swedish fika at the largest lake in Sweden, Vänern. Is the fika to celebrate the fact that you completed your long walk or is it an energy boost for your continued hike via the Pilgrim Trail Dalsland, which will take you towards Norway and Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim? It is entirely up to you. Fun fact: In Sweden we say “lagom” which means in the middle or between two things. For example, if you want your shower to be in between hot and cold then it’s lagom.
