UTBY - TROLLHÄTTAN

Are you being watched? It might feel that way for any pilgrim walking in the magical forests between Utby and Trollhättan, but stay calm – the only ones watching over you are the gnome-figurines that a creative soul from Utby has placed along the trail.
It’s easy to get lost inthoughts in the enchanting, deep forest with all of its steep slopes, so be sure to keep an eye out for the trail markings. There are plenty of mushrooms to be found here for those who know what they are looking for, but also hunters, so wear bright clothes that stand out from the surroundings if you find yourself here mainly during the hunting season in August-February.
Just before you leave the forest to move closer to the river, you will encounter a mighty overhang – please support the mountain with a stick to keep it standing! Then move on to Åkerström Nature Reserve where you are offered some of the best views along the trail, especially around sunset. Cross the bridge that leads you across the river to the Trollhättan water-lock area, which for the historically interested can be just as fantastic to stay in as the forest.
Be sure to be well prepared in terms of food and water before heading out on this stage, which with its 22 kilometres is the trail’s longest.
